Sellrond's Council: A way to connect, build and save!

Every business is trying to get your email address to only bombard you with spam, products that don't interest you and lousy "deals".  Sidequest Loot feels that you deserve better.

Even though we deal in just about every kind of legal product that's out there, we won't deny that some of our featured stock has a doctor-approved amount of "nerd" content.  That's me.  Much of my life has been spent appreciating these things.  Maybe it's because there isn't a mainstream fanbase when to like it and when to get out.  Participation was a very personal and active decision.

We want to connect with our followers to share their input with us.  Participants in Sellrond's Council can indeed expect that they will receive notices about special deals, featured product, neat stock that we have just received and new partners in "The Fellowship of the Things" - there, I just did it again!

These survey answers will help direct which products that you might like to see, gather your opinions to share with our Fellowship and more!  Completing the surveys is always voluntary but we will always try to make it worth your while.  Market research for smaller vendors is typically expensive, time consuming yet critical to help make decisions.  We aim to make this more accessible.  The sage advice from this Council will not only help Sidequest Loot but also our partners.

So what do you get for giving us your email?:

- A reduction of 20% on all Shipping

- The ability to request deals, discounts and some degree of haggling about the listed price.  We don't negotiate with strangers!

- A monthly entry into a draw for stuff! For example, we will start with a $25 credit for Sidequest Loot Products (not applicable for shipping or taxes - it IS combinable with other credits).  This entry is automatic as long as your email is still with us.  As we grow we will expand this offering for other prizes that could include swag, vendor merchandise, samples and more!

- Every survey that you complete will result in an additional entry for the membership draw PLUS a separate draw entry for a separate prize only for Survey participants and contest winners.

- Draws will be held on the 1st day of each month, starting October 1/25.

We would love to share your Sidequest Story! If you have started a business or side hustle, if you're thinking of doing it or if you have no idea whatsoever of what you want to do, we would love to share your story.  We find that when the buyer knows you better, they are more likely to buy.  We don't mind if you mix in some advertisement, sales pitch (ugh!) or simply supportive thoughts for other Sidequesters going through the same thing.

Email: mysidequest@sidequester.ca and let us know what you want to do!  There is no charge for posting but we will give a final editorial review and might provide some suggestions.  You will be provided with a final draft before we publish.  All submissions will become the property of Sidequest Loot but will not be used without your consent.  We like to provide an author name but can limit this to first name or name of your business, if you wish.

 I discovered this event advertised on Facebook about a month ago and was highly curious.  A Sidequest-triggering experience. They advertised that this event was being hosted at St Andrew's Church in Brantford, Ontario by an organization called Soup for the Soul.  To give you a bit of context around them and their work, they are a volunteer, fundraiser and donation driven arm of St Andrew's United Church (95 Darling St in Brantford:  St. Andrew's United Church Downtown Brantford, Ontario ).  To quote their website: "Soup for the Soul gives all people the opportunity to a free, nutritious meal and social support services. Turnabout: A Game of Fair & Fun Play by Kris Anticknap

Picture a board game where you play against friends and family the way they are as people. These folks all around you are a lot more interesting than you realize, and you can get some idea of this after a few rounds of Turnabout! Every game is different. Every outcome is wild! I never thought board games were fun, so I made a fun one called Turnabout. Let me carefully expand on that by saying it is not the anti-board game. Turnabout is the ultimate board game. It’s a bold statement, but I stand behind it as true, or I would not have published Turnabout. It is flawed, but it does not have any of the built-in flaws that make it no fun to play. The Sidequest Loot Philosophy: FAFO

If you're expecting an intimidating rant about how no one should mess with us or that we will avenge ourselves upon evildoers or that LOWBALLERS SHOULD BEWARE (huh, three equivalent terms, how 'bout that), this post is going to greatly disappoint you. We have already shared a couple guest Sidequest Tales and intend to share many more.  Thus far, there are at least two commonalities in our contributors to this blog: they each took a leap of faith and I can guarantee that none of them followed a guidebook word-for-word.  There's no such thing.  If the idea became reality then the methods that they used worked.  Successful? That's an eternally moving goalpost. Sidequest Loot is fully involved in a FAFO mentality.  We are prepared to try new ideas, new approaches and new concepts to move ourselves forward and grow.  There are a large number of "tried and true" strategies in our playbook but we are also not afraid to incorporate a bit of anarchy into the game....
